Vaccination Camp

We successfully organised our first vaccination camp at Koundampalayam, Coimbatore, in collaboration with the Community Organisation for Oppressed and Depressed Upliftment (COODU), on July 6th 2021.

The free vaccination camp for the general public was organised with the support of The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu and KGM Hospitals, a private hospital chain in Coimbatore.

The beneficiaries included 260 individuals from marginalised sections of Koundampalayam, Coimbatore aged 18 and above, 256 of whom received their first dose.

Vaccination Camp at Koundampalayam

As of June 19th 2021, only 1.4 lakh people, which is less than 4% of the total population of Coimbatore had been vaccinated. The city has faced challenges with vaccine distribution and the biggest impact has been felt on marginalised sections.

Hoping to expedite public vaccination, in collaboration with COODU, we organised a free vaccination camp at Koundampalayam, 6 kms north of the city centre where the majority of residents are daily wage workers.

The vaccines were procured with the support of the Coimbatore Corporation, in collaboration with The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu.

On July 6th 2021, 260 individuals aged 18 and above, of marginalised sections residing in Koundampalayam were vaccinated, of whom 256 received their first dose.

On-site medical support was provided by KGM Hospitals through their medical personnel. Along with the free vaccination, a post-vaccination care kit was also distributed to the beneficiaries.

The camp was the first of its kind in Coimbatore to provide free vaccination to the general public, organised by an NGO. We extend our gratitude towards COODU, The Department of Health and Family Welfare, Tamil Nadu and KGM Hospitals for their support in successfully conducting the camp.

First of Many

Our hope to beat this pandemic depends on the rate at which we vaccinate. The more people vaccinated, the more lives saved. We hope to continue with our aim to expedite public vaccination. The vaccination camp at Koundampalayam is the first of many camps to come.
